I was interested in how to teach students as a virtual teacher - do you think kids could do science experiments at home? Would you get bored at recess and lunchtime without your friends? First, you are learning about how to do research on the Internet. This is one of the most important things to learn, because when you leave school, there will be things that you have to learn to do by yourself all the time. As a virtual teacher, I am glad to know that when I give an assignment, the students know how to figure many things out by themselves. Second, you know that it is important to give credit to the source of your information. One of the reasons this is important is people will know that you're not just making things up and that you might be a good source of information in the future. Some students say that it is the teacher's job to provide all the information they need to do an assignment. Before the Internet, this was often true. Today, there is too much information for anyone to know, even your teachers. But if you know how to use the Internet, it isn't necessary to know and remember everything. Often your teachers learn as much from an assignment as their students! Finally, you make a very important and mature statement about winning. I think it makes you very happy to figure things out by yourself. Winning a prize for finding the most information would be great, but you reward yourself every time you learn something new!
